US cemetery Grand Failly, France

The US temporary cemetery in Grand Failly, France was situated near de small village of Grand-Failly just 53 miles south of Bastogne, Belgium.
The cemetery at Grand Failly opened on December 20, 1944 just 4 days after the beginning of the Bulge offensive. About 2,967 American soldiers were buried at the cemetery.

In 1948 the decision was made to relocate the fallen and they were reinterred in private and national cemeteries in the United States and in military cemeteries in Europe. Citizens of Grand Failly and nearby towns erected a monument in 1985 on the site to honor those who died in defense of their country. To this day they continue to hold memorial services at least 3 times a year.
